Mexican Punitive Expedition (1916)

Mexican Border Service Ribbon

The 2nd Regiment, Washington National Guard was mobilized in 1916 for service on the Mexican border. This mobilization was in response to the activities of Pancho Villa and his army. The 2nd Regiment was stationed at a sparse cattle town, Calexico, Calif. Rather than fighting maurading bandits, Guardsmen fight boredom before returning home late 1916.
